Buy Local? Listen Local!

Online sales have been a boon to consumer convenience ... but a curse to local retailers. More and more, we see "Buy Local" campaigns (quite rightly) urging consumers to support local shops as their very existence depends upon such custom.

Many fest guests discover new favorites every year -- from both local and international bands.

Local bands live in a parallel world. They feed their love of music by performing, which is their primary reward. No musician gets rich performing locally!

But the venues booking them do depend on bands attracting custom to their pubs, theaters and other locations. So, the best way each of us can support our favorite local band is to see them live, giving venues every reason to hire them back.

At the Peoria Irish Fest, we love playing our part in supporting our local musician friends! Because that's who they are -- our friends, maybe our neighbors, certainly members of the communities we serve. Exposing them to new audiences -- or venue owners -- brings us great satisfaction and, we hope, further solidifies their place in the local music scene.

Make plans to sit in on one or more performances by these local bands scheduled to play at our fest and show your support. They deserve our support and appreciation, and you'll get fun times spent with friends in return.

Turas / Still Shine / The Roundstone Buskers / Bogside Zukes
