St. Brigid: A 1,500-year-old saint enjoys a resurgence

Known for her charitable works to feed and heal the poor, St. Brigid of Kildare has enjoyed a boon of popularity in these modern times. As explained in a news story from 2024 (https://tinyurl.com/3yrjsswv), the saint's modern following is based on feminine spirituality, environmental care, and artistic creation.

Here in Peoria, the St. Brigid Festival will take place at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Parish, 1113 W Bradley Ave, Peoria, IL 61606 on February 1, 2025. Enjoy all you can eat corned beef and cabbage with boiled potatoes, carrots, soda bread and a variety of desserts. Flynn’s School of Irish Dance takes the stage at 6 p.m. and then Skibbereen, a fest friend Celtic Rock band takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Throw in some Irish Trivia, Raffle Baskets, Souvenirs and Barrels of Beer and you’re in for a grand time!
